Child/Infant Fares

Unaccompanied children travel at the child fare, but can only be booked by telephone. Additional fees and conditions may apply for unaccompanied children if Capital Air is required to use alternate transport operators for any reason.

Booking Conditions

Bookings made by telephone incur a non-refundable $10 service fee per person, per one-way fare. Changes to bookings must be made by telephone but no telephone service fees will be charged for making changes. Bookings made via Internet on www.capitalair.co.nz incur no service fees.

Flight Confirmation

When booking, please provide a contact phone number we can call you on during the day of your departure. If booking a return flight, please also include a phone number at your destination. If you are unable to be contacted, please call us on +64 3 525 8725 or 0800 588 885 on the day of your flight, or the night before if you have an early morning departure the next day. We will confirm your departure time or, if weather disrupts your flight, discuss alternative travel arrangements.

Wellington Check In and Transport

Check in 25 minutes prior to departure at the Wellington Aero Club, 246 Coutts Street, Kilbirnie, on the western side of Wellington International Airport (opposite side from the main terminals).

There is a walkway under the airport to the main terminals. See location map. You'll need to be able carry your baggage if walking. Allow 15 minutes.

Off-street parking is available at the Aero Club for $2 per day. Enquire on arrival.

The Airport Flyer bus stops nearby the Aero Club on its route between the main airport terminals and Wellington City and the Hutt Valley. See Metlink for a timetable.

Takaka Check In and Transport

Check in 25 minutes prior to departure at the Golden Bay Flying Club, Takaka Aerodrome, State Highway 60 (5km towards Collingwood from Takaka).

Passengers have the option of booking pickups or dropoffs within 10km of Takaka Aerodrome while booking flights online or over the phone. The fee is $7 per person one-way. Pickups and dropoffs from locations further than 10km must be organised by phone and additional charges will apply. Capital Air will contact passengers departing Takaka to confirm pickup address and time, which will be at least 45 minutes prior to check in time. Dropoffs will depart Takaka Aerodome 25 minutes after the arrival of the aircraft.

Rental cars are available at Takaka for $59 per day. Contact Capital Air to book.

Baggage

15kg allowance per passenger including carry-on bags. Soft bags are preferred. Excess baggage may be carried, subject to availability, and will be charged at $3.00 per kg. Please contact Capital Air before the flight if you are likely to exceed the 15kg baggage allowance. We may not be able to carry excess baggage on your flight if you have not pre-booked it with us. Please also advise if you have larger items such as wheelchairs or large suitcases. We may ask for the dimensions.

Infants travelling free of charge do not have a seperate baggage allowance but their baggage may be combined with that of accompanying adults.

Animals

Small animals may be carried in appropriate airline-approved pet carriers. For pets accompanied by a paying passenger, the fare is $50 per pet carrier and for unaccompanied pets the fee is $100. Accompanied pets are not counted as part of the passenger's baggage allowance. Please call us to make a booking.

Restricted Articles

Passengers are not permitted to carry hazardous substances. This includes camping gas and flammable fluids. If you wish to take a camping stove with you, we can make camping fuel available for you at Takaka Aerodrome by prior arrangement.
